18 maja komisja z Bucks New University w składzie Sydney Padua, Aleks Kropidłowska i Simon Morley przyznała nagrody w konkursie na animację „Po drugiej stronie lustra” dla klas ILP i 4 POSSP.
1st– Zofia Szudy
Very much enjoyed this lovely little film, the pacing, composition, editing, and mood were all on-point. It reminded me of Dudok de Wit or Frederik Bach, if you are not familiar with their work do have a look. The first shot of the bucket is very solidly animated and an unusual and intriguing start.
Technically it suffered from the lack of registration of the camera with the drawings- the jitter broke the quiet mood a little! And I would have liked to see it finished in colour. I look forward to seeing more of your work as your film-making instincts are great.
2nd – Dominik Żyża
There are some excellent ideas in this little film and interesting compositions and cinematography. The focus on the composition and environment was refreshing and there was a great use of 3d space and focus.
The start is a little slow and the design of the main character is a little confusing, as they looked so much like a jedi or martial arts character I was waiting for a battle… a more neutral design would have worked better. Technically more care on the character animation would have lifted the film.
3rd– Kasia Wąs
This is a very simple film but I really enjoyed the drawing and acting in it, which was very clear and appealing.
I would suggest a stronger contrast in the character designs between the two girls— because they were so similar it took a moment to realise they were different characters.
The facial acting is great here, I suggest working on life-drawing and full-body movement to round out your skills.
Gratulujemy nagrodzonym i życzymy dalszych sukcesów!
